I think in his post-GD career, where he had played second or third wheel, he has done himself quite well becoming the head man and doing well for the most part. I think it has broadened his legacy. And I love Bobby. His antics make me laugh.

E- I find myself listening to Bobby about as much as Jerry. I've heard Garcia's licks for years and Weir is much more subtle (did I just write that?) and interesting, especially post '72. He is near unlistenable in the 60's at times and uninteresting the rest.

You bring up a good point . Much of the most annoying behavior he did with the GD, seemed to lessen or disappear , the longer Jerry was gone( the "animal impersonation" part of estimated seems to have disappeared . And does he even do LLR anymore ?). Steering the boat, or sharing it with Phil, seems to have changed him .
What everyone has already said , and we have all said before, good and bad .
He was such an enigma,; one of the most interesting, unique, and tasteful players ever,, but at the same tim,e an almost brutish insensitivity , and indifference to taste . How long did it take him to figure ,out don't need to have any thing follow Morning Dew ; or at least pause a second or two ( insert long bitchy diatribe about song choices, in which "Easy Answers", and the end of "St. of Cir." are mentioned).
BUT, I love him...even though I replaced him in my dream with Willie Nelson . There is no singer I listen more to than Weir , except Garcia !

Who woulda thunk if you looked at the date and placement in the set.

Yeah, they really seem to be enjoying themselves on this . This is their third tune taken form Dylan's "Bringing It All Back Home" ( after "Baby Blue", and She Belongs To Me ") . This performance is definitely eye opening , and makes you wish they played it more often in the second set . This is an example of a nice cover, where they manage to make it feel like a Grateful Dead song .
